Because management was ignoring my phone calls about ongoing problems in my home, as a single mother without resources I felt like I HAD to call the corporate office of American Residential Communities in Denver to complain about the problems at Broadmore Estates/Goshen. That was in the spring 2011. In July the same year, they chose not to renew my lease because they had “hard feelings” about being FORCED to do their job.
Because I had given them $750 for a security deposit, I did everything I could before I left regarding taking care of both the house and the yard. I even called the office to ask if they preferred if I dig up or leave the plants I had planted. The place was spotless when we moved out on 8/31/2011. I heard later that the maintenance man had remarked to a resident how clean my “unit” had been after we left.
Even so, I am still waiting on the check for the remaining balance of my security deposit (>$100 for carpet cleaning and several window blinds). I’ve heard from other people living there, past and present, that the on-site manager Angel Anglemyer spends so much time in small claims court regarding other tenant’s security deposits that it becomes the norm for her. How many other times has Angel or Broadmore Estates in general, screwed over their previous tenant FOR NO REASON other than Greed or contempt? I personally know at least four other people/families who have something negative to say about Broadmore Estates. I can also tell you that by me recently calling the corporate phone number in Denver has resulted in nothing. I am still waiting on my remaining security deposit.
How does a good tenant like me resolve this? By spreading the word……
